Peace of Mind is something a lot of people are looking for today! Me being one! As a result we turn to things that acts as placebo...things to "fill in the gap", anything to drown out the hurt (social gatherings, books, drug, alcohol, relationships, etc). These temporary fixes often fail as none is a lasting solution. None of these actually deals with the underlying cause of our anxiety.
Jesus said in John 14:27 "My peace I give to you; not as the world gives...Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Rather than focus on Jesus today, I'll like to turn our attention to a person who received the Peace that Jesus spoke about. Apostle Paul. Even though he was imprisoned and soon to be martyred, he had a contagious peace of mind and wanted to share it with everyone. Philippians 1:12-18; 4:4-7, 11-13
In his letter to the Philippians Paul highlights things we can focus on and things we can build our lives around that will produce joy and peace.
Love for our fellow brethren - Phil.1:8
Devotion to God - Phil.1:21; 3:7-11
Contending for perfection - Phil.3:12-14
Concern for the lost souls - Phil.3:18
In the end we can clearly see that a love for Christ (and things that Christ loves and cares about) is the ultimate source of joy and peace of mind!
As I continue the study of the book of Philippians, I am opening myself up to learn and live more like Christ in light of today's society.
